President Muhammadu Buhari says that when he leaves office the following year, he will stay close to the Niger Republic.
According to Buhari, the action is being taken to guarantee his complete safety.
“I have promised several of my coworkers that when I leave the job, I will make an effort to be as far away from Abuja as I can be, so that nobody can cause any problems for me any more.”
Despite technology, he believes he will be safe enough in Daura, which is near the border with the Niger Republic.
The President made this statement on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, when he met with officials from the Federal Capital Territory and members of the FCT community who had come to honour him over the Christmas season.
He praised FCT Minister Mohammed Bello for running the territory’s business in a way that showed honesty, integrity, and transparency.
The Nigerian president is said to have said that Bello was chosen on purpose to be the FCT minister and that Bello couldn’t be moved because he was a good person.
He claimed Bello had demonstrated superior skill in managing both financial and human resources.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the president was responding to a previous statement made by Sen. Smart Adeyemi, the chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, who referred to the FCT Minister as the most open and sincere minister in the history of the FCT.
The comments made about the FCT Minister surprised President Buhari, but he thanked Bello for not letting him down.
He declared: “The Minister has brought sense back to the FCT’s plot distribution process.” Instead of developing allotted plots as required by the FCT legislation, people were accustomed to selling them.

Others file for land just to sell it quickly and get money to get new wives.
The president expressed his gratitude to Nigerians for their support and for giving him the chance to lead them during the Christmas holidays.
He told the group, which was led by the FCT Minister, that when he ran for president in 2003, he went to all 774 local governments and got a lot of support from the people there.
The delegation’s head and FCT minister had earlier informed the president that, because he is the Governor General of the FCT, the Christmas homage had become required.
“It’s not surprising that you make these visits because, as Governor General of the FCT, you are also in charge of running the FCT. However, you have been kind enough to give me this job.
“Today is a turning point for us because the coronavirus’s advent prevented us from making such visits in 2020 and 2021,” he continued.
As President Buhari’s term winds down, the minister took the time to wish him good health and a smooth transition into retirement.
“This is also the last Christmas that we as FCT residents will have the opportunity to come and pay our respects,” he added.”Your term would have ended in five months, and the next Christmas would have been under a new president.”
“So, we’d like to take this chance to thank God Almighty for letting us take part in a number of Christmas celebrations that you planned.
“I also wish you well on behalf of all FCT citizens and pray that God grant you a long and fruitful retirement in the coming months.”
“We also want to express our gratitude for all you have done so far for the nation.”
Archbishop Danie Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), commended God for maintaining Nigeria’s unity in the presence of the Vice President of the Association, Rev. Stephen Panya-Baba.
In addition, he praised the president for his efforts in tackling the nation’s socioeconomic problems in spite of all the obstacles caused by the natural and human worlds.
“We want to reassure you that the Christian community is firmly behind you and praying that God will favour your work as your administration comes to a close.
“This wish you have to see the pain of the people of this country lessened will start to bear fruit.
We know that you are still having trouble, especially with security issues, which are a big problem in our country right now.
He said, “We are praying, we haven’t lost hope, and we want to urge you to keep doing your best, and we believe God will one day intervene and accomplish what man cannot do.”
He also prayed that the national general elections in 2023 would go smoothly and well.
NAN says that the FCT Minister gave the president a big Christmas card on behalf of the people of the territory.
