Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, has given an explanation for why he chose to sign a brief contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
At the end of June, Peseiro’s previous contract came to an end.
The 63-year-old just signed a fresh six-month contract that will finish following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which Cote d’Ivoire will host from January 13 to February 11.
The Portuguese claimed that his choice was mostly motivated by his ambition to win the AFCON.
Peseiro told Brila FM, “Me and my staff did everything to stay here to train these players and reach the big goal — win the AFCON title.”
The Super Eagles had previously won the AFCON championship three times.
