According to the Anambra State Police, a newly declared wanted corps member, Mr. Nnamdi Emeh, stole a staggering N47 million from a suspect’s account.
Emeh, a corps member in active duty, was a consultant in information technology with the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, of the Anambra State Police Command.
For impersonating a police official with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Emeh was listed as wanted. He was also charged with illegally possessing weapons and laundering money.
Investigations also showed that Emeh had employed a blogger to uncover the heinous actions of several state police officers. He had done this by exploiting his IT expertise and understanding of police operations.
The whistleblower was apprehended in Benin Republic last month while attempting to elude the law, according to a news statement issued by the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who said he is now in their custody.
Ikenga continued, “Recall that on February 20, 2023, the command proclaimed that one Emeh Nnamdi Daniel, age 26, a member of the police command’s youth corp, was sought on charges of illegally possessing firearms, money laundering, character assassination, fraud, and impersonation.
At this time, we’d also want to inform you that the suspect has been apprehended. Prior to his capture by INTERPOL agents, the suspect, Nnamdi Emeh, fled the nation to the Benin Republic.
Nnamdi also fraudulently moved a total of N47 million from one Mr. Chibuike Martins Ekwueme’s account to 14 separate accounts that belonged to him.
According to the order, the Federal High Court is already hearing the case.
