If President Bola Tinubu is dismissed from office by the judiciary, according to the Labour Party (LP), Nigeria won’t descend into anarchy.
Due to the fact that he did not receive 25% of the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Tinubu had petitioned the presidential election tribunal to reject LP’s appeal to have his victory in the general elections of 2023 declared invalid.
In his final written submission to the tribunal, Tinubu asserted that the FCT is the 37th state for election purposes through the assistance of his attorney, Wole Olanipekun.
According to the president, any alternative reading would “lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy, and alteration of the very intention of the legislature.”
In response, the LP said Tinubu’s comments were pointless because the matter was already in court in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.
“We adamantly maintain that no amount of intimidation by the APC against the tribunal’s judges would modify the procedures and demands established by the law. The Labour Party holds that it must be implemented, so it must be done.
“Let me assure the APC and their leaders that if there were no absurdity, chaos, and anarchy when they forced their way into power, Nigeria will still witness peace when they are ultimately evicted from power,” Ifoh’s message said in part.
