The crisis in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State has been attributed to a combination of factors, including herder militia and cattle rustling, according to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, General Buba stated that special forces have been deployed to the affected areas to address the situation.

He explained that the crisis was triggered by the killing of a Mangu man by herder militia, who reportedly attacked residents after the incident. In addition, the Defence Headquarters will be meeting with the Chairman of the Christian Association Of Nigeria in the local government to address recent accusations against the military.

The attacks in Plateau State have resulted in numerous casualties and the imposition of a curfew by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Plateau State has recently experienced a severe wave of violence, as bloodthirsty marauders have wreaked havoc in the Bokkos and Barkin Ladi local government areas. Tragically, over 200 lives were lost during the Christmas Eve attacks, and numerous houses and farmlands were set ablaze.

The overnight assaults also left many injured, causing widespread devastation and sorrow. The coordinated nature of these killings has sparked both local and international outrage, prompting the governor to criticize the military for their delayed response and label the situation as a carnage.

Shockingly, more than 50 villages have been affected by these attacks, leading the United Nations to call on the Federal Government to conduct a thorough investigation into these tragic incidents.
