We’re prepared to welcome Wike into the APC, says party leader
Chief Tony Okocha, an APC leader in Rivers State, stated that the party is “ready to receive” Nyesom Wike, the most recent governor of the state, if he decides to join the opposition.
This information comes amid rumors that Wike, who reportedly helped assure President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election, is about to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.
According to allegations, Wike and a few of his supporters in the opposition party lobbied for ministerial seats in Tinubu’s administration.
The former governor further stated that he is prepared to serve if President Tinubu nominates him.
Wike has the right to join any party of his choosing, according to Tony Okocha, a former chief of staff at the Rivers State Government House, who made the comments regarding the potential defection on Thursday at a news conference in Port Harcourt.
He continued, “We are at peace with His Excellency, Barr Nyesom Wike, the immediate former Governor of Rivers State, as our leader in the leadership of the Tinubu family in Rivers State.
