We’ll strive hard to give the people of Ogun power again – PDP disagrees with Tribunal ruling
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has pledged to make a strong effort to give the state’s citizens back the reins of power.
This was stated by the PDP on Tuesday as it rejected the decision of the Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to dismiss the petition it had filed against All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The party rejected the Tribunal’s judgement, which it claimed was primarily based on technicalities, and expressed dissatisfaction in the tribunal’s finding, calling it a miscarriage of justice.
Sikirulahi Ogundele, the PDP chairman in Ogun, said during a press conference where the party made the argument that in a democracy, the electoral process must continue to be fair, transparent, and accountable.
“The necessity to protect our democracy from manipulation or irregularities and to uphold the will of the people of Ogun State drove our decision to initiate legal action. We firmly believed that justice would be done and the truth would be revealed when we started this legal process.
“Shockingly, the Tribunal opted to concentrate on procedural details rather than conducting a thorough and objective analysis of the evidence and claims made in our petition.
In addition to other major problems, our petition included thorough and convincing proof of alleged over-voting, voter disenfranchisement, voter harassment, and ballot box stealing. These accusations weren’t just made up; they were supported by reliable testimony and copious evidence. To guarantee that the election process is untarnished, the people of Ogun State need an objective and in-depth review of these concerns, according to Ogundele.
The PDP, which is the second petitioner in the case, guaranteed the residents of Ogun State that it will continue to pursue justice and defend the rights and ambitions of its supporters and the people of Ogun State regardless of the Tribunal’s ruling.
“We have decided to take this matter to the appellate courts, where we believe a more complete and unbiased assessment of the evidence and allegations will take place,” he stated. We are unwavering in our resolve to make sure that the truth is made known and that the people’s will triumphs. There will soon be some relief.
“We’ll fight hard to give the people of Ogun State their power back.”
