Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has said that the assailants who shot and killed security personnel in the state’s Ehime Mbano Local Government Area on Tuesday will be found and prosecuted.
Eight security personnel, including police, military, and NSCDC officers, were attacked and killed on Tuesday, according to OBASANJO NEWS24.
The state governor expressed his sorrow over the regrettable tragedy in a post on his official X account after visiting the area and promising the public that justice will be done.
The governor urged the community members to maintain their composure and not to be alarmed by the situation.
“I was saddened at the news of an ambush by armed men, which resulted in the death of some security personnel on duty at Umuezeala Owerre in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State,” he said.
“I have been to the crime scene; this barbaric act is unacceptable, and I have led a cooperative effort among the security units for justice,” he said.
“However, even as I ask for community support, I reassured our people not to live in fear of retaliation attacks or hatred.
“Ndi Imo nwe’m, let’s not be alarmed by this, as it in no way upsets our continuing fight against criminality and its companion vices in our dear State.
“Let us feel secure knowing that we will find the perpetrators of this horrific crime and prosecute them. I expressed my condolences to the security services whose personnel were involved in the repulsive occurrence once more.
