On Tuesday, the Nigerian Police Force announced that it would investigate the petition filed by the late musician Mohbad accusing event promoter Samson Balgun, commonly known as Sam Larry, and 15 other people of police incompetence.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, Mohbad had complained to the police about Sam Larry and 15 other people for “threat to life, malicious damage of properties valued at the sum of five million naira, assault, occasional harm, oppression, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace” before he passed away.
The petition claimed that on June 25, 2023, Sam Larry and 15 other armed attackers attacked Mohbad during a video shoot. They allegedly destroyed equipment worth more than N5 million and assaulted the singer, who “narrowly escaped with injuries.”
Many accused the police of incompetence in response to the petition, which appeared online shortly after the musician passed away.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the PRO of the Nigerian Police police, responded by announcing that the police would look into the petition’s purported carelessness.
He shared a copy of the petition on his X Twitter and stated, “We will look into the alleged police negligence on this case.”
