When party chieftains from the South West zone gave Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso their vote of confidence on Friday, the crisis roiling the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on a new dimension.

The decision was made by the party’s founding members at a formal South West zonal executive meeting held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, a group of the party led by Dr. Boniface Aniebonam had previously said that the former governor of Kano State had been expelled from the organisation. However, the party’s top leaders from the six states in the South West have made up their minds to support and remain loyal to the outgoing governor of Kano State.

The National Vice Chairman (South West), Prince Ademola Ayoade, the National Auditor, Ladipo Johnson, and the Chairman of the Osun State, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, were among the party heavyweights present at the meeting.

Pastor Peter Olagookun of the South West Forum’s Chairman of Chairmen, Mrs. Veronica Dikko Kila of Lagos State, Dr. Oluyinka Gabriel Folahan of Ekiti State, and Prince Kunle Ibrahim of Ogun State are additional caretaker chairmen.

While categorically rejecting Aniebonam’s leadership, the South West leaders urged all suspended former party members to uphold the party’s honour.

They also requested that Aniebonam and his crew turn around and go back.

The party officials urged all Nigerians, particularly those from the South-West geopolitical region, to support NNPP in order to ensure excellent leadership and effective government.

They decided to take all necessary steps to reposition the party for better performance in the future in the communiqué Ayoade read aloud.

After evaluating and evaluating the various activities of our party during the most recent general elections, they stated: “We hereby agree and support the various activities of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC), and agree to do everything necessary to reposition the party for better performance in the future.

Additionally, the entire committee rejected the sham put on by a number of ex-NNPP members led by Dr. Boniface Aniebonam and passed a vote of confidence in the NWC, the National Executive Committee (NEC), and the party’s leadership, Senator Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso. We’ll collaborate with the populace to position the NNPP as a rival political force for national leadership.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24 B, the South West leader of the party, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, met behind closed doors at his home in Ibadan with the party’s South West secretary, Dr. Tunde Oke, the party’s public relations officer, Mr. Adeosun Sunday, and the party chairman in Oyo State, Mr. Adeosun Badmus.
