In the midst of the Labour Party’s ongoing leadership crisis, Kehinde Sogunle, the party’s candidate for governor in Ogun State, as well as the House of Assembly candidates, local government party chairmen, and other stakeholders from across the state, have vowed their support for the National Working Committee, which is led by Julius Abure.

At a consolidation meeting held on Thursday at the NLC Secretariat in Abeokuta, party members reiterated their support for Abure, Peter Obi, and the governorship candidate.

Recall that the Michael Ashade group in Ogun State claimed to be in charge of the organization on Saturday, months after the Abure-led National Working Committee suspended the Labour Party.

However, in his remarks, Sogunle advised the LP members to approach the situation with magnanimity and objectivity.

We currently stand at a crossroads between a crisis and a number of chances, he remarked. We can profitably take advantage of the opportunities if we can handle the situation properly. We should take comfort in the fact that we gave up things and made important contributions to the party, the people, and the political system. What is around us is nothing in comparison to what is inside of us and what lies ahead of us.

Sogunle argued that the Labour Party has consistently demonstrated that there is a way when there is a will.

The governorship candidate emphasized, “We have faced frustrations, cheating, betrayals, deceits, and deceptions, yet we are still standing and posturing creditably and credibly. We have suffered numerous setbacks and fallen victim to numerous errors. Nothing can stop a concept whose time has come, and we are unfazed by this.

Sogunle declared that “the major detractors have publicly exposed themselves and shown the world the indecorous stuff they are made of” in a subtly critical remark about the Lamidi Apapa group and its adherents in Ogun State.

He said, “We did not grapple with their piggery behavior, but showed them with superior intellect that you can win a war without combat, as the days of their ultimate shame and expulsion from the party are now! They entered the national scene dancing naked, despite being criticized by domestic politicians.

Lookman Jagun, the acting chairman of the Labour Party in Ogun, urged members to maintain their composure, stating that “this is not the time of maximum or even optimum instant compensation or rewards, but the time to put the house in order and ensure one voice by having some patience and developing the art of the long run.”

Stakeholders at the conference reiterated their support for the gubernatorial candidate and the State Party Caretaker Committee in their individual speeches to ensure that members could coexist in peace.

The LP leaders stressed that their goal is to see a new Nigeria through Peter Obi, the LP presidential candidate, and vowed not to be derailed or distracted by the “dramas” taking place within the party.

Regaining the Labour Party’s stolen mandate, they said, was their top goal. The allegations of financial embezzlement are really a scripted plot by paid sellouts who wish to sow discord in the state.

“Comrade Kehinde Sogunle is a respectable man; we believe in his leadership style, his background, and his records,” they proclaimed. Abure continues to serve as our nation’s leader. Our state chairman is Jagun Lookman, and our steadfast leader is Comrade Kehinde Sogunle. On Peter Obi’s authority, we are standing. Ignore all rumors.
