Washington March Draws Thousands as Trump Prepares for Inauguration
With Donald Trump’s inauguration approaching, another large-scale march in Washington attracts thousands, showcasing diverse political sentiments ahead of the ceremony.
Thousands have assembled in Washington DC to demonstrate against the impending Trump administration.
Organizers anticipate that The People’s March will attract up to 50,000 participants in the US capital; however, police estimate the turnout at around 25,000.
Meanwhile, final preparations are underway for the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, with the ceremony relocated indoors because of cold weather.
Trump is scheduled to arrive in Washington, D.C., later today for a series of events before his swearing-in on Monday.
Protesters participating in the People’s March are now beginning to pass by the Washington Monument, situated on the National Mall roughly halfway between the US Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial.
On one side of the monument, participants in today’s People’s March are visible holding signs that convey their opinions on a range of issues.
Some placards read, “Climate change is real,” and others state, “Black lives matter.”
Across the street from the Washington Monument, a smaller group of people sporting Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats is taking smiling selfies with the demonstration as their backdrop.
