In accordance with the two-day warning strike announced by organised labour, the Jigawa State branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday morning closed the doors of all ministries, departments, and agencies.
When OBASANJO NEWS24 visited several of the offices, including banks, higher education institutions, state and federal secretariats, it observed complete employee compliance.
The NLC has ordered employees nationwide to go on a two-day warning strike starting on Tuesday.
The action, according to Labour, was required to express opposition to the government’s response to the elimination of fuel subsidies, which has had a significant impact on many Nigerians.
OBASANJO NEWS24 noted that all economic sectors, including banking, government services, and transportation, have been impacted by the strike.
Malam Zaharaddeen, a civil servant in the state, stated: “The NLC has done the right thing because some workers have not been coming to their place of employment due to economic hardship.”
