As the conflict in Ukraine entered its 20th month, the Kherson province in southern Ukraine was the scene of two fatalities and three injuries from Russian bombings on Sunday.
Oleksandr Prokudin, the governor of Beryslav, reported that Russian forces attacked the city and destroyed an unknown number of private homes. According to him, a woman was slain and three others, including a police officer, were injured.
Without mentioning the kind of weapons used in the attack, Prokudin reported that another airstrike also claimed the life of a 67-year-old man in the village of Lvove.
The two affected settlements are situated in the Ukrainian-controlled portion of the Kherson area, where the Dnieper River, which divides the province in half, has served as a combat line ever since Russian forces crossed it in November 2022, a withdrawal that increased the invading nation’s morale.
The Russians reassembled on the eastern bank of the river and frequently shelled the towns and cities on the other side, including Kherson, the regional capital that was once held by the enemy but was retaken by Ukrainian forces more than ten months ago.
According to regional governor Roman Starovoit, a Ukrainian drone struck a government building in the Russian city of Kursk and “insignificantly damaged” the roof. He omitted to mention any injuries or the contents of the building.
Unconfirmed media sources from Russia and Ukraine claimed that it was the Kursk section of the Federal Security Service, also known as the FSB, Russia’s principal security organisation.
In addition to bordering Ukraine, the Russian region of Kursk is frequently attacked. As locals celebrated the foundation anniversary of the regional capital on Sunday, a drone strike occurred.
The Ukrainian authorities, which often deny responsibility for strikes on Russian territory, made no immediate comments.
