Evgeny Prigozhin, the creator of the PMC, will “go to Belarus,” according to Dmitry Peskov.
Evgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Wagner Private Military Company (PMC), will have his criminal case against him dismissed and leave Russia, the Kremlin declared on Saturday night.
According to Dmitry Peskov, Prigozhin, a millionaire from Saint Petersburg who initially found success in the catering industry, “will go to Belarus.”
Given their actions on the front lines of the Ukraine conflict, he said, Wagner’s fighters wouldn’t face persecution. The team of President Vladimir Putin, according to Peskov, “have always respected their exploits.”
According to Peskov, PMC contractors who declined to join the mutiny—including entire units—will be permitted to secure contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry.
Overnight, Wagner led a significant revolt in Russia, seizing control of Rostov-on-Don’s Southern Military District headquarters and moving toward Moscow. Late on Saturday, the uprising was put an end after talks between PMC leader Prigozhin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, during which the PMC leader agreed to send his soldiers back to their “field camps.”
