The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have once again declined the latest offer from the Federal Government regarding the minimum wage, marking the third proposal within a week during the negotiation talks that resumed on Wednesday.
Despite the rejection, the NLC and TUC have adjusted their stance from the initial ₦615,000 to ₦497,000 during the ongoing discussions.
A key member of the Tripartite Committee involved in the negotiations for a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers revealed that the Federal Government and the organized private sector proposed a ₦57,000 monthly minimum wage, contrasting with the ₦54,000 proposed the day before.
The initial offer of ₦48,000 from the government was also turned down by organized labor.
