Vice-President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to work together between government and corporate leaders, urging them to do more than just leave politics to politicians.

According to the Vice President, the collaboration is essential to advancing Nigeria’s prosperity and economic growth.

Open communication, mutual understanding, and cooperative efforts between the public and private sectors, according to him, are the keys to creating solutions that are specific to Nigeria’s circumstances.

At the Heirs Holdings Group Directors’ Annual Summit Dinner in Abuja on Friday, the vice president made the call for cooperation between the political class and economic stakeholders, emphasising that the two domains are complementary rather than antagonistic forces that are essential to the stability and advancement of the country.

He declared, “Enterprises that shape our economic destiny are too important to be left to the businessmen alone to develop. Politics is too important to be left to the politicians.”

Shettima asked conglomerates to act as conduits for the administration’s pragmatic economic vision, diverging from cosmetic reforms of the past, while remaining aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s economic goal.

The foundation of a healthy economy is cooperation between the public and private sectors. We need to have frank conversations, exchange ideas, and collaborate to develop solutions that are unique to our circumstances. In order to promote sustainable development and guarantee a secure future for all Nigerians, our alliance must aim to address issues like unemployment, poverty, and improving healthcare and education, he continued.
