The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting was requested by the party’s 36 state chairmen. They recognise Julius Abure as the party’s national chairman.
A vote of confidence in the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, was approved by the party’s 36 state chairmen as well as some National Working Committee members.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, they said that Lamidi Apapa and a few other people’s actions were unlawful and that any judgements made at the time were invalid. With the party’s flag bearer, Peter Obi, contesting the results of the presidential election on February 25, Apapa announced himself to be the party’s national chair in the aftermath of a new legal crisis that is roiling the organisation.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting should be held right away, the party’s 36 state chairmen demanded of Abure, who they recognise as the national head of the party.
Yomi Arabambi and Anslem Eragbe’s suspension from the party was maintained while they approved a vote of confidence in Abure.
They applauded the decision of the party’s trustees, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), saying that due procedure must be followed before any removal or suspension can take effect.

On Wednesday, a Federal Capital Territory High Court removed Abure from his position as the LP chairman and ordered three other people to stop impersonating party national leaders. Earlier, James Onoja had argued an ex-parte application.
Nevertheless, LP and all of its members were prohibited from suspending its national officers by a State High Court sitting in Benin that day until the outcome of the move on notice.
