Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), visited the top officials of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on Friday and pleaded for prayers and support for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, made this announcement on Friday in Abuja.
According to the CDS, he went to see the Islamic leaders to express gratitude to them for their fervent prayers for the military and the country as a whole as well as to share good news from the armed forces with the entire Muslim Ummah.
He acknowledged that there were certain issues the nation was facing but vowed that it will continue to improve, expand, and unquestionably remain safe.
Musa continued by stating how unified and dedicated the military was to upholding civil authority and defending Nigeria’s democracy.
In response to the recent death of military men in a jet crash in Niger, the CDS was consoled by Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar 111, National President of the NSCIA and Sultan of Sokoto.
The Sultan, who was represented by Haroun Eze, declared that the NSCIA had consistently prayed for the military as it battled terrorism and insurgency.
A peaceful resolution to the political issue in our neighbouring Niger Republic was also advocated by him. (NAN)
