Viral video: Foreign biker reports police officers for soliciting money
The Oyo State Police Command announced that it had captured the police officers seen in a now-viral video extorting money from a Dutch woman riding a motorbike while she was on tour in Nigeria.
The command announced on Thursday that the operatives will be subject to disciplinary measures in a post on X.
“Viral footage showing the heinous misbehaviour of some police officers on Moniya-Iseyin Road has been viewed. Everyone implicated has been taken into custody and will face immediate disciplinary action. There will be more oversight. The message stated, “Please report any misconduct to Xsquad at +2348023535470.”
The rider was stopped by the police in the footage, and they asked her where she was going and from where.
Surprising the two cops, the Dutch said that she was from the Netherlands and was headed to Abuja.
The officers continued speaking to the rider in pidgin, asking, “What are you bringing with you? What will you give me? Hey, give me something, please.
The visitor didn’t seem to get the police’ meaning until they explicitly stated, “Give me money, money,” at which point she questioned, “Why?”
Nigerians, humiliated by the policeman’s actions, reacted to the 1:26-minute video.
