Adedeji Aderemi, a veteran Yoruba actor popularly known as Olofaina, has passed away. The actor, who hailed from Ede in Osun State, lived in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, for many years. Olofaina was well-known for his roles in several epic Yoruba movies, including Ogbori Elemoso, Ayanmo, Bashorun Gaa, Afonja, Lagbondoko, and Balogun Ibikunle, among others.
Chief Musliu Dadofunjo, also known as Baba Jogunomi, a close associate of the late actor, confirmed the news of Olofaina’s death. Dadofunjo revealed that the actor passed away on Thursday evening. Although Olofaina had a house in Ibadan, he had returned to his hometown of Ede, where he breathed his last at the age of 74.
It is worth mentioning that Olofaina held prestigious titles in his community. He was formerly known as the Solaloju of Ede and was later upgraded to the position of Majeobaje of Ede. The Yoruba film industry has lost a talented actor, and Olofaina’s contributions to the world of cinema will be remembered.
