VeryDarkMan Alleges N180m Stolen from NGO Account by Hackers
Activist and content creator VeryDarkMan reveals that hackers reportedly stole N180 million from his NGO’s account, raising concerns about cybersecurity in the nonprofit sector.
Martins Otse, a social media influencer popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has alleged that approximately ₦180 million was stolen after his NGO’s website was hacked.
VDM revealed in an Instagram video on Friday that the funds had been diverted to an unknown account.
He mentioned, “I haven’t been myself these past few days. The NGO website was hacked and N180 million went missing. Thankfully, we’ve identified the individual responsible and have arrested one suspect.”
The account is currently on Post No Debit (PND) status. There are N20 million remaining, while N160 million has been diverted. We’re going to Jos to recover the money.
To prevent additional breaches, VDM announced that the NGO’s app was temporarily taken offline for maintenance. He promised his followers to provide updates on the recovery efforts.
In October, VDM launched the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative and collected over ₦30 million in donations within just a few hours.
Music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, widely recognized as Don Jazzy, was a major donor to the cause, contributing ₦100 million.
