Ruud van Nistelrooy, a former striker for Manchester United, has admitted that his decision to leave Real Madrid in 2009 was his biggest regret in terms of his professional football career.
In the most recent episode of The Overlap with Gary Neville, Van Nistelrooy made this statement.
“Pellegrini was our coach and brought in Ronaldo, Kaka, and Karim Benzema. Van Nistelrooy remarked, “There was nothing for me anymore.
“I accepted it, in part because I was 33 years old. I made the decision to travel to Hamburg in 2010 because I wanted to attend the World Cup. I rushed into that choice.
“If I take a look back, I should not have left Madrid; it was the worst error of my career. My family’s departure was also unwise at the time.
