Calling Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to order has been advocated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Council (TUC) to President Bola Tinubu.

Following the violence that targeted state workers’ union members on Wednesday, the demand was made.

The Imo State Council Secretariat of the Congress in Owerri is where NLC President Joe Ajaero was picked away by heavily armed security personnel, according to OBASANJO NEWS24.

The Imo State Statement’s move was denounced by the NLC and TUC in a joint statement issued by Emmanuel Ugboaja and Nuhu Toro.

Workers’ organisations bemoaned Uzodinma’s transformation of the state into a haven for thugs and gullible people.

In order to stop Uzodimma from turning the state into a haven for thugs and bloodsuckers, the President and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces must summon him to order, the statement said.

For this reason, the unions promised to keep up the pressure until the government gave in to their demands.

“Until the government takes the demands of the workers seriously, we as trade unions will continue to function.

“The Governor shouldn’t be led astray into believing that the violence of today will weaken our will and desire to protect Imo State’s workforce.

It’s really motivated us to get more organised so we can interact with him in a more original and efficient way.

The arrest and incarceration of Ajaero were deemed inappropriate by the unions.
