Uzodimma: Fuel Subsidy Removal Is a Blessing for State Governments
Governor Hope Uzodimma describes the removal of fuel subsidies as a positive step, highlighting the financial benefits for state governments and opportunities for economic growth.
The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, believes that eliminating the petrol subsidy is beneficial for state governments.
On Monday, while inspecting various projects in Imo State to mark the first anniversary of his second term, the governor stated that state governments now receive more funds for their developmental needs.
He stated that balancing the adverse impacts of removing fuel subsidies with the advantages in socio-infrastructure, social benefits, and improved business conditions brought about by enabling infrastructure is ultimately a positive development.
This is a straightforward benefit, not hidden for the sub-nationals, as states are now receiving more funds. State governments must demonstrate their capability to act effectively since they are gaining additional resources due to the Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidies.
