Uzodimma Declares Integrity, Urges Politicians to Follow Suit

Governor Hope Uzodimma emphasizes the importance of integrity in politics, calling on fellow politicians to uphold honesty and transparency in their actions.

On Thursday, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State claimed that he has a clean record as a public official and there are no accusations of corruption against him.

During the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award ceremony held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the governor announced this declaration in 2024.

He seized the chance to inspire his fellow public officials to set a positive precedent by staying within their lawful financial limits and refraining from engaging in any corrupt behavior.

Factors such as the unremitting pursuit of wealth and a lack of discipline among certain leaders were identified by Governor Uzodimma as contributing to Nigeria’s ingrained corruption problems.

Uzodimma urged current political leaders to emulate the leadership philosophy of Michael Okpara, as presented in his talk titled “Service Above Others,” so as to foster a more prosperous country.

In addition, he gave a report on the progress of restoring the Egbema power plant and revealed that it is scheduled to be finalized and commissioned by Q1 2025.

Ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the state is vital, as he emphasized concerning this project.

Distinguished personalities in attendance at the occasion included Prince Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State; Patricia Obila, Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State; Patience Jonathan, former First Lady of Nigeria and a host of present and past legislators.
