Usyk Triumphs Again as Fury’s Bid for Revenge Ends in Disappointment
Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk secures another impressive victory, while Tyson Fury’s attempt to avenge his previous defeat falls short, marking a tough moment in his career.
Tyson Fury’s attempt to avenge his only professional defeat concluded in disappointment on Saturday night when Oleksandr Usyk achieved a unanimous points win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The unified heavyweight champion successfully defended his titles with all three judges scoring the bout 116-112 in favor of Usyk.
The Ukrainian champion, who possesses the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles, dominated most of the 12-round fight with his characteristic speed and accuracy. Usyk’s display of unwavering pressure and skillful combinations highlighted his standing as one of boxing’s greatest legends.
Fury described his determined mindset leading up to the fight as “beast mode.” Although he demonstrated increased focus by setting aside his typical showmanship, he struggled to challenge the extraordinary Usyk.
Weighing almost four stones more than Usyk, Fury sought to leverage his size advantage, especially in the initial rounds. Despite this strategy, Usyk’s agile footwork and steady left-hand strikes kept Fury on guard. As they reached the midpoint of the match, it remained highly competitive; although Fury delivered some powerful blows—such as a brief left uppercut—he struggled to maintain consistent pressure.
In the later rounds, Usyk shifted momentum significantly by demonstrating his superior stamina and technique. In the eighth round, he launched a barrage of punches that drove Fury to the ropes. By the 10th round, Usyk had solidly asserted his dominance with effective combinations and relentless energy against Fury.
In the last two rounds, Fury aimed for a dramatic comeback, but Usyk’s relentless speed and accuracy secured his win. The decisive ruling reaffirmed Usyk as the dominant force in the heavyweight division.
At 37, Usyk is now focused on unifying all the heavyweight titles by defeating IBF champion Daniel Dubois, which could secure his place in history as a two-time undisputed champion.
Meanwhile, Fury, who came into the fight weighing 20 stones and 1 pound, will face inquiries about his future in boxing after another defeat to Usyk.
