The USA men’s basketball team secured their fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal by defeating France in the final, continuing their dominance in the sport and solidifying their legacy at the Games.

On Saturday, the United States clinched their fifth consecutive Olympic men’s basketball championship by defeating a determined France 98-87 and increasing their count of Olympic gold medals to 17.

LeBron James and the US squad, boasting several NBA stars, once again showed their supremacy over France’s impressive rookie Victor Wembanyama and his companions in a rematch of the Tokyo Olympics final from three years ago.

With 3 minutes and 4 seconds remaining, France had shaved off a deficit of 14 points to just three. However, the United States powered through with unwavering determination when Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry sank a successful three-pointer and Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant flawlessly landed two free throws, ultimately securing their victory.

With a total of 24 points under his belt, Curry dominated the scoring board for the US team by making eight successful three-point shots.

Durant and Devin Booker contributed 15 points each while James recorded a stat line of 14 points, six rebounds, ten assists, one steal and one block.

Durant secured his fourth Olympic gold medal, breaking a record. Meanwhile, James earned his third and Curry clinched his debut Olympic title despite being a four-time NBA champion.
