The military commits to dealing with looters and calls for nonviolent protests, stressing the importance of avoiding mayhem.

Additional military resources will be sent by the Pentagon in response to the escalation between West Jerusalem and Tehran.

On Friday, the US Defense Department announced that Washington has directed an increase in destroyers, cruisers along with another fighter squadron to be stationed at the Middle East. This move is intended to protect Israel amidst growing tensions with Iran.

Furthermore, the US has instructed for the deployment of USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group as a replacement for USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier currently stationed in the Middle East.

The declaration arrives during escalating conflict following the recent assassination of Hamas’ political representative, Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Accusations have been made by both Iran and Hamas against Israel for carrying out this act of violence and they vow to retaliate. Additionally, Iran pinned partial responsibility on the US as a “supporter and accomplice” aiding Israel’s efforts.

Although West Jerusalem has not officially admitted or denied their involvement, they have made multiple warnings about targeting the Hamas leadership due to their attack on Israel on October 7th. This deadly assault claimed approximately 1,200 Israeli lives and resulted in over 250 hostages being taken by the group.

The Israel-Hamas conflict that followed has resulted in increased tensions across the broader Middle East region. In April, Iran and Israel engaged in direct clashes when an Israeli strike targeted a compound belonging to the Iranian Embassy located within Syria.

On Friday, it was reported in a press release by the Pentagon that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has mandated modifications to the US military position with regards to protecting Israel.

The aircraft carrier group will be accompanied by “more cruisers and destroyers with ballistic missile defense capability” along with an additional fighter squadron. Additionally, preparations are being made to enhance our ability to deploy land-based ballistic missile defense forces according to the statement provided.

Earlier today, spokeswoman Sabrina Singh reported that the US defense secretary had a phone call with Yoav Gallant, his Israeli counterpart. During the conversation, he conveyed upcoming actions and reaffirmed unwavering support for Israel’s security. The department also mentioned forthcoming modifications to defensive measures in order to better protect them.

According to three US officials, Axios reported on Thursday that the Joe Biden administration is preparing to counter an attack they are “convinced” Iran will make against Israel in a matter of days.

On Thursday, a press release from the White House stated that Biden had a phone conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister. During their talk, they discussed ways to enhance Israel’s defense against threats such as ballistic missiles and drones through newly deployed US military defenses. The President also reiterated America’s backing for West Jerusalem.
