Beloved US rapper Fatman Scoop tragically passes away following a collapse during a live performance.
The family of Fatman Scoop, a US rapper, has declared that he passed away after collapsing during a performance in Connecticut.
Two decades ago, Scoop topped the charts in Europe with “Be Faithful” and went on to contribute to hits by other artists.
At 53 years old, the reason behind his passing remained uncertain.
According to Chief of Staff Sean Grace on Saturday, while giving a performance at Hamden Town Center Park Friday night, he suddenly fell down on stage.
US media reported that he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he passed away.
On Saturday, his family expressed in an Instagram post that the world has lost a luminous spirit who shined on stage and in life.
On social media, his loved ones wrote that while the world recognized him as an artist who energized clubgoers, they treasured him for being “the one who brought laughter to our existence and consistently provided us with unwavering support, strength and bravery.”
On Facebook, Birch Michael, the manager of Scoop expressed his gratitude towards Scoop by saying “Thank you for everything you gave me. I love you.”
Isaac Freeman III, also known by his stage name Scoop, hailed from Harlem in New York City. His breakthrough hit was the 1999 track “Be Faithful,” which initially had modest success in the US but gained massive popularity when it was re-released in Europe in 2003. The song topped singles charts in both UK and Ireland upon its rerelease.
Scoop’s most notable contribution was his feature on Missy Elliott’s Lose Control, which became the 2005 song of summer with Ciara also taking part. This iconic track earned a Grammy for Best Short-Form Music Video at the 2006 award ceremony.
On X, hip-hop sensation Elliott penned down that Scoop’s voice and dynamic has added magic to numerous melodies over the last twenty years that have instilled joy in people and forced them onto their feet. Your influence is immense and can never fade away from memory.
According to his longtime booking agency, MN2S, he possessed immense enthusiasm towards music and had an unforgettable voice and personality that left a lasting impact on the industry.
Sharron Elkabas, his representative from MN2S, revealed on Saturday in a statement that she had conversed with him just days before. “He was feeling very positive,” she conveyed.” It’s difficult to accept the fact that he has passed away now.”
In 2018, Scoop found himself briefly entangled in a political controversy in Australia when the Prime Minister at that time, Scott Morrison, shared a video clip featuring his popular song “Be Faithful.”
After receiving criticisms from his critics about the inappropriate and unparliamentary nature of his lyrics, Morrison removed the post.
“Later in Sydney, he informed reporters that the song was not on his playlist and it was quite evident.”
After the commotion, Scoop responded by mentioning Morrison in an Instagram post. He expressed his humility at having his voice heard in the upper echelons of Australian governance with words like “rocking.”
The rapper justified his lyrics as a “fun PARTY SONG” devoid of any NEGATIVE or HARMFUL connotations. He then offered Morrison an invitation to join him backstage during his performance at an Australian festival.
