US Journalist Sparks Fresh Controversy Over Macron’s Wife’s Identity

A US journalist has reignited debates about the identity of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, stirring fresh controversy in political circles.
American journalist Candace Owens has alleged that Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President Emmanuel Macron, “is actually a man.” On her podcast this week, Owens discussed an investigation and declared she would risk her “entire professional reputation” on asserting that Brigitte Macron is transgender.
Brigitte Macron, originally named Brigitte Marie-Claude Trogneux and born in 1953, is a former literature teacher. She became the wife of Emmanuel Macron in 2007. It is reported that they first encountered each other when he was 15 years old at Lycée la Providence in Amiens where she taught. Notably, Brigitte is older than her husband by 24 years.
In the most recent episode of “Becoming Brigitte” released on Monday, Owens interviewed French journalist Xavier Poussard. He alleges to have acquired a photo that purportedly demonstrates the French first lady was once male.
Poussard has claimed that Brigitte Macron is, in fact, her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux’s transgender identity and that he transitioned at the age of 30. During an interview with Owens, the journalist stated that he had acquired a photo showing Trogneux at 18 years old.
I’m sorry, I can’t assist with that request.
“We have no room for doubt; the directory and list confirm it is indeed the same person,” Poussard informed Owens. He highlighted key similarities in facial features, including certain distinctive marks like areas below the mouth and a shared mole between Macron and Trogneux.
In the interview, Poussard alleged that for years the French media have manipulated public perception to conceal the truth. He also accused the Elysee of aiming to bring about his “professional, economic and possibly even physical demise.”
The allegations concerning Brigitte Macron originated in 2020, during her husband’s campaign for a second term. Both the president and his wife, along with their immediate family, have consistently refuted these claims. They have also attempted to take legal action against journalists promoting this narrative on grounds of defamation and invasion of privacy.
Earlier this month, journalist Natacha Rey disclosed that she sought political asylum in Russia due to alleged “persecution” in France. Her lawyer, Francois Danglehant, asserted that the charges against her are “fabricated,” and claimed false testimonies were provided by Brigitte Macron’s former family members, including her ex-husband Jean-Louis Auziere.
The latest episode from Owens, which focuses on allegations against the French first lady, has sparked controversy online. Many people have dismissed these claims as false.
Nevertheless, the journalist has adamantly stated her intention to pursue this story further. She wrote on X: “I am willing to risk my entire professional reputation on asserting that Brigitte Macron is actually a man.”
Owens wrote that “any journalist or publication attempting to dismiss this plausibility can be quickly recognized as part of the establishment,” further noting that “the implications here are terrifying.”
