The US and Israel are preparing for a possible Iranian attack, according to Axios. Discover the details and implications of this alarming situation.

According to sources from the outlet, it is expected that Tehran will launch a series of attacks on the Jewish state within 48 hours.

According to sources cited by Axios on Saturday, the US and Israel are still getting ready for a significant strike in response to Iran’s retaliation over the killing of Hamas as well as Hezbollah leaders. The attack is expected to commence next Monday.

Gen. Michael Kurilla, the leader of US Central Command, reportedly made a prearranged trip to the area with a primary objective of rallying global and regional forces similar to those that successfully safeguarded Israel from an earlier significant Iranian assault in April 2021, say two anonymous US officials.

In recent days, the Middle East has experienced escalating tensions following Iran’s accusation of Israel’s involvement in a bombing that killed Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. While Israel hasn’t acknowledged orchestrating this attack, it did admit to eliminating Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in Beirut due to his responsibility for an assault on a soccer field located at the Golan Heights which resulted in casualties including 12 minors.

The Israeli military is now on high alert as Iran has threatened retaliation, and the US – its primary ally – has elevated their presence in the area.

According to sources at Axios, Iran’s upcoming attack will be similar to the one carried out in April. Tehran retaliated against Israel for allegedly bombing their consulate in Syria by launching a strike involving numerous drones and missiles. However, Israeli officials stated that although it occurred on a large scale, minimal damage was done.

Simultaneously, authorities informed the media that the imminent strike might escalate considerably and include Lebanese Hezbollah troops. However, they remain uncertain whether Iran and Hezbollah will coordinate their activities or pursue separate courses of action. Additionally, officials suggested that Tehran and Hezbollah are currently finalizing their strategies which must obtain approval at a top-level political hierarchy.

It has been reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden is worried about potential challenges in forming a coalition to counteract an Iranian assault, specifically due to the tensions resulting from Haniyeh’s assassination being tied directly with the Hamas-Israel conflict. Meanwhile, as combat intensifies in Gaza, Israel faces significant criticism for its actions within this Palestinian territory – leading to extensive devastation and numerous fatalities.
