Throwflame, an Ohio-based company, has recently announced that for approximately $10,000, Americans can now own a robot dog equipped with a flamethrower.
This four-legged drone, known as the ‘Thermonator,’ can be controlled through a first-person-view interface and has a battery life of up to one hour. The company claims that the ARC flamethrower attached to the robot dog has a range of 30 feet.
Throwflame proudly states that the Thermonator is the first-ever flamethrower-wielding robot dog. The design of the Thermonator appears to be inspired by the Unitree Go1, a smaller and lighter version of Boston Dynamics’ famous ‘Spot’ robo-dog.
Throwflame is offering the Thermonator for a retail price of $9,420, with free shipping to any US state. It is important to note that while flamethrowers are not federally regulated and are not considered firearms by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, there are restrictions in California and a complete ban in Maryland.
Throwflame emphasizes that it is the buyer’s responsibility to comply with local laws. As a company, Throwflame prides itself on being the oldest flamethrower manufacturer in the US and claims that its products are crafted with pride by military veterans.
