The Congressional Black Caucus has endorsed Kamala Harris for the US elections. Find out how this support could influence the race.

On Tuesday, leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus Political Action Committee gave their complete endorsement to Kamala Harris, US Vice President and potential candidate for the presidency.

Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks of New York declared that the members of CBC PAC in this esteemed caucus are committed to a mission – ensuring Kamala Harris is elected as the next president of the United States.

Steven Horsford, the leader of CBC from Nevada, endorsed Harris and stated to reporters that “despite having various ideological stances within our group we’re united today with a singular goal – securing victory for American citizens.”

Founded in 1971, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) comprises African American members of the US Congress. Though officially non-partisan, historically its membership has been predominantly Democrats. Presently, only Democratic politicians belong to this caucus with no Republican representation.

The goal is to bolster the representation of African Americans in Congress and provide assistance to advocates who align with the interests of this community.

By late Monday, Harris had garnered the support of most Democratic delegates, positioning herself as the likely nominee for their party.

If elected in November, she would become the first woman to serve as president in the US.
