US Denies Involvement in Lebanon Pager Explosions Targeting Hezbollah Fighters
The United States has officially denied any role in the recent pager explosions in Lebanon that affected Hezbollah fighters. Read the latest updates on the incident.
After a number of pager bombings that resulted in multiple fatalities and numerous injuries in Lebanon, the US refuted any connection to the event. A representative from the Pentagon affirmed their vigilance over escalating tensions within this area.
Scores of Hezbollah fighters had their pagers detonate on Tuesday, leading to a surge in casualties at hospitals and the opening of blood banks. The communication network heavily depended upon by Hezbollah is pager-based as mobile phones are susceptible to hacking risks.
The Lebanese militant group, supported by Iran, has accused Israel of being responsible for the event. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have declined to provide any statements at present.
The attack has been deemed “highly alarming” by the United Nations. This comes amidst frequent clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli military along the Israel-Lebanon border that began with Hamas’ assault on October 7th. These ongoing hostilities have sparked concerns of a full-scale regional conflict, resulting in tens of thousands being displaced from their residences on both sides of the frontier.
