Media reports reveal that the US and UK air forces conducted coordinated airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, intensifying efforts to stabilize the region amidst ongoing conflict.

According to Al-Masirah TV, the US and British air forces have carried out strikes on several targets in western Yemen associated with the Houthi militant group.

The broadcaster linked with the Houthi-associated Ansar Allah movement reported on Sunday that attacks and a raid targeted the At-Tuhayta district in Al-Hodeidah Governorate.

The report, verified by a security source in the governorate, did not offer any information on casualties or additional details regarding the bombing.

Sunday’s raid marked the first operation since mid-November, when American and British air forces together launched bombings on targets in Saada and Amran governorates.

Since October of last year, the Houthis, a Shia Islamist group that controls significant portions of Yemen, have been targeting Israel-linked commercial shipping in the Red Sea. This is in retaliation to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.

Since Israel declared war on Hamas in Gaza, following a series of deadly raids by the Palestinian group into Israeli territory, the Yemeni group has launched missiles or drones at over 80 merchant ships. Initially focusing on vessels “linked to” Israel, the Houthis later broadened their attacks to include US and UK vessels after Anglo-American airstrikes took place in January.

The Houthis have targeted Western warships in the region and assert that they have launched missiles at Israel multiple times, framing these actions as a demonstration of solidarity with Palestinians.
