urging MDAs to switch to CNG engines is the petroleum ministry
For the purpose of mitigating the effects of the loss of fuel subsidies, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources has asked Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and Nigerians in general to switch their cars over to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines.
This was announced on Monday in Abuja at the inauguration of the Ministry’s two brand-new, cutting-edge 32-seater Coaster buses by Amb. Gabriel Aduda, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
The buses were purchased to make professional engagements and staff travel convenient.
According to the OBASANJO NEWS24 , the Permanent Secretary, who represents the Federal Government, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, the head of the Federation’s civil service, and the ministry’s management oversaw the inauguration.
According to Aduda, the buses would be switched from petrol engines to CNG in accordance with the Federal Government’s commitment to the energy transition.
However, because of the CNG initiative’s financial benefits, the Permanent Secretary urged other MDAs to adopt it.
He emphasised the government’s commitment to easing workers’ problems, particularly in the wake of the elimination of subsidies.
Aduda recalled that the ministry received aid from the government in 2022, allowing for the purchase of the new buses.
The current administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, he continued, “holds a steadfast commitment to staff welfare.”
While giving the keys to the Ministry’s union executives, Aduda emphasised the value of upkeep and urged them to ensure adequate maintenance for a longer service life.
He emphasised the significance given to employee wellbeing within the framework of the current Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP).
Aduda thanked her for her excellent human-centered leadership while identifying the plan as a key endeavour endorsed by the Federation’s Head of Civil Service.
The buses would act as welfare benefits intended to encourage personnel to provide quality service, according to a statement made by Mrs. Patricia Umo, Director, General Services.
A union leader, Mr. Dipo Agboola, also spoke and thanked the Permanent Secretary and his management group for their forward-thinking proposal.
Agboola declared that the buses would be changed to CNG within the following seven days, exhibiting the workforce’s respect and commitment to duties.
