The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has achieved a significant milestone by uploading 95.32% of the Ondo governorship election results on its IReV platform. This development underscores the commission’s commitment to transparency and timely dissemination of election data.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has posted 95.32% of the results from the Ondo State governorship election on its Result Viewing Portal.
As of 8:34 PM on Saturday, results from 3,749 out of the 3,933 polling units where the election occurred have been posted online.
Although 18 political parties took part in the election, incumbent governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and former deputy governor Agboola Ajayi are regarded as the primary contenders.
Aiyedatiwa campaigned under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whereas Ajayi represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Both men share a common experience: they both served as deputy governors of the state under the administration of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away late last year. Following his death, Aiyedatiwa was sworn in to assume leadership in the Sunshine State.
The election was largely peaceful, with voting concluding in certain areas of the state around 2:30 PM, paving the way for vote sorting and counting.
The election commenced at approximately 8 a.m. across the 3,933 polling units in the South-West state. In certain areas, materials for the event were delivered as early as 6 a.m., with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials intensifying their preparations for the poll.
