UPDATED: Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka Resigns from PDP

Osita Chidoka, Nigeria’s former Aviation Minister, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant shift in his political career.

Osita Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation, has announced that he is resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chidoka, who previously served as the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), revealed this information during his appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Friday.

He announced his departure from politics to dedicate himself to the Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership. This nonprofit, nonpartisan research institute aims to collaborate with other Nigerians interested in reforming Nigeria’s political system.

“Chidoka announced on the program that he had sent a letter earlier today to his ward in Anambra State, officially resigning from the PDP. He stated, ‘I am departing from the PDP and stepping away from politics for a while to concentrate on the Athena Centre.’”

Starting today, I am stepping away from the Peoples Democratic Party to collaborate with fellow Nigerians who are committed to reforming our political system and promoting evidence-based governance.

In the resignation letter submitted to the PDP Chairman of Obosi Ward in Anambra State, which he shared with Channels Television, Chidoka expressed gratitude to the party for allowing him to serve the country in various roles.

He remembered that it was during the tenure of this party that he rose to become the Corps Marshal of the FRSC and subsequently took on a role as a senior minister.

He mentioned that his present priority is the Athena Centre, which requires his complete attention and mandates a neutral position without any partisan ties.
