The Trump campaign later issued a statement expressing gratitude to law enforcement and first responders for their swift response to the incident. The statement confirmed that President Trump is safe and is currently undergoing a medical evaluation at a local facility. The Pennsylvania State Police acknowledged the gunfire but did not provide an update on Trump’s condition.

The Secret Service communications chief, Anthony Guglielmi, released a statement confirming that protective measures have been implemented and that the former President is secure. The Secret Service is actively investigating the incident and will provide further details as they become available.

US President Joe Biden, Trump’s 2024 campaign opponent, emphasized the need to condemn political violence and expressed his attempt to reach out to Trump. He also stated that he has been briefed on the shooting and is relieved to hear that Trump is safe and doing well. Biden and his wife, Jill, expressed gratitude to the Secret Service for ensuring Trump’s safety and called for unity in condemning such violence.

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger informed a Washington Post writer that Trump was grazed by gunfire, and an audience member was killed while the shooter is deceased. Another individual is in serious condition, according to the prosecutor.

Republican US Senate Candidate Dave McCormick, who was present at the rally, recounted the sudden outbreak of gunfire, indicating that someone behind him appeared to have fired the shots.
