Dr. Comfort Adokwe, a lecturer at Nasarawa State University, was kidnapped on Sunday but has since been released.
According to Obasanjo news24, gunmen kidnapped Adokwe, a lecturer in the university’s Faculty of Administration and Deputy Director of Gender Studies, on Sunday night from her home in Angwan Jaba in Keffi.
The release was confirmed by Comfort’s brother Timothy Adokwe over the phone with obasanjo news24.

He said, “Yeah, she was released at 8:30.”
He claimed that at first, the kidnappers wanted a ransom of N100 million.
He attested to the fact that the family had made an undisclosed payment to obtain her freedom.
Though they were unable to approach Comfort to prevent injury, Timothy praised the military and the Department of State Services, or DSS, for their assistance in securing his sister’s release. They kept an eye on things via satellite.
“The military and the DSS were involved, but they were on the outskirts because they tried to monitor from their satellite and knew the location, but you know, they can’t just enter directly,” he said. “In actuality, the police were not there.”
Adokwe stated that his sister is OK and has rejoined with her husband and daughter. He said that she was brought to an unnamed hospital for a medical examination.
He pleaded with the authorities to make sure development reaches some regions where kidnappers predominate.
He claimed that the identical spot was used to rescue the university’s vice chancellor who had been abducted in the past.
