UNIPORT appoints 65 additional professors and associate professors
42 senior professors have been promoted to professorial position and 23 others to associate professorial status by the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
The new academics fulfilled the rigorous selection requirements of the institution, according to a statement released on Tuesday in Port Harcourt by Dr. Sam Kpenu, Public Relations Officer of UNIPORT.

The advancements were made when the Education Minister gave his permission on December 8.
The academics were promoted in accordance with the suggestions made during the UNIPORT Central A & PC Academic Meeting on November 23.
He declared, “The university hereby announces the promotion of twenty-three staff members as Associate Professors (Readers) and forty-two staff members as Professors of their respective disciplines.”
Ten new professors from the Faculty of Education, eight from the Faculty of Humanities, eight from the College of Health Sciences, three from the Faculty of Agriculture, one from the Faculty of Engineering, one from the Faculty of Social Science, and one from the Faculty of Management Sciences make up the professors’ category, according to a breakdown of the promotions.
The Faculty of Education produced seven new readers in the Associate Professor (Readers’) category, followed by the Faculty of Humanities with five and the Faculty of Science with three.
Additional faculties include two each from the Engineering and Science faculties, two from the College of Health Sciences, one each from the Faculty of Agriculture and Computing.
