A road accident at UNILORIN campus results in one fatality and nine injuries. Find out more about the crash and its aftermath.
On Thursday, a solitary incident that transpired on the campus of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) aroused concerns over the possible demise of one student.
The incident concerned a commercial bus with ten seats that transported passengers from the campus to town following their day’s work.
In a statement, Kunle Akogun, the director of corporate affairs for the university revealed that four passengers had sustained minor injuries in response to the incident and were treated before being discharged.
Five individuals, including two males, two females and the driver, are receiving treatment at the University Health Centre according to Akogun.

Part of the statement reads, “Today in the afternoon on campus, a motor accident occurred which has saddened the management team at University of Ilorin.”
There was only one accident that happened on the campus, which involved a commercial bus carrying ten passengers and leaving the area.
Immediately after the incident, the University Management initiated rescue measures, swiftly transferring all casualties to the University Health Centre. A group of trained medical professionals provided prompt medical attention at this facility.
After stabilisation, one of them required advanced treatment and was directed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
Four individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated before being discharged.
At the University Health Centre, there are five victims who include two males, two females and one driver that are receiving medical attention.
The University management expresses its sorrow over the incident which resulted in one fatality. The deceased has been transferred to a morgue while efforts are being made to reach out to their next of kin.
