Prof. Florence Obi, vice chancellor of the University of Calabar, has given her approval for the appointment of Dr. Rose Ugbe as acting dean of the faculty of law.
According to a statement from the university’s registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, Ugbe will take the place of Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the former dean, who was suspended last week after being accused of being overbearing.
Egbe is explicitly charged with inappropriate conduct towards female pupils as well as other irregularities.
According to NAN, a seven-person team had been assembled to examine the claims.
The announcement stated that Ugbe’s appointment began on Tuesday, August 22, and would continue until a permanent dean of the faculty was elected.
In addition to managing the academic programmes for the faculty, Ugbe would assume the duties and responsibilities of the office.
She would also promote positive interactions between the faculty and students.
