President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory was upheld by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, according to David Umahi, Minister of Works, who has asked Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to refrain from challenging the decision.
At the new Government House in Centenary City, Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, he announced this to reporters immediately after paying Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, a courtesy call.
“I advised him (Obi) not to go to appeal,” the former Ebonyi State governor added. I’m not a legal expert. A lawyer is present, my son. There is no chance for an appeal now that he has interpreted the ruling.
Umahi also asked the leaders of the South-East geopolitical region to band together and support the Tinubu administration for their own reasons.
He said, “Let the South East come together and support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration; even when we didn’t vote very well for him, he made us the number one minister.”
Tinubu will be a wonderful President, said Umahi, adding, “God told me before that Tinubu will be Nigeria’s President. God heard me as I prayed. Though it was difficult, we managed to survive in the South East by God’s grace.
Gov. Nwifuru was praised by Umahi for the empowerment and other developmental successes that have been seen in the state during his first 100 days in office, and Umahi pledged to work with him to make sure that the state advances.
“Bringing Gov. Nwifuru was the right decision for us. Some ex-governors are prohibited from returning to their homes. I, however, am at home. The way I met him, I’m really happy,” he said.
