The Honourable Minister of Works, David Umahi, has restated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to repairing Nigeria’s dilapidated road system.

The Minister claimed that the President’s plan to revive the country’s economy included his intervention about the lack of adequate road infrastructure.

After meeting with the newly elected governor of the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, Umahi made this statement in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Uchenna Orji.

Umahi praised the governor’s determination to ask the federal government to become involved in his state’s road infrastructure problems. He then gave the governor his word that the Kogi Federal Highway was one of the federal routes on which the President had ordered palliative intervention.

“Among the federal highways Mr. President designated for palliative intervention was the Kogi Federal Highway.I want to reassure you that the President has given our Ministry the go-ahead to begin construction on that segment of the road, and you will soon notice a lot of concrete buildings on several of the road’s problematic areas.

Umahi also expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) principles and his perseverance in guiding the Party to victory in the just concluded Kogi governorship poll.

Umahi claimed that the victory was evidence of the Governor’s good deeds and the acceptance of the ruling Party by the State’s citizens.

“I like your nationalistic views. I know many South East Asians who have made your Cabinet. I also know many people who faced security issues; they were abducted far away, but you assisted in their rescue even across State.” The Minister, however, congratulated the Governor-elect and gave him instructions to be generous with his win, develop leadership qualities, keep his path in mind, and stick with his party.

“Every young guy who steps into a position of such high authority is vulnerable to numerous temptations. One piece of advice that has helped me and that I’ll share with you today is this: evil will never leave the home of someone who pays evil for good deeds done to them.

“The Governor made a lot of enemies because of you; let these enemies make peace with him through you. The Governor looks for respect and honour from you, not money or position, because to whom God has shown honour, man must show honour to the person,” he continued. “The teeth and the tongue often have misunderstandings, but they live together.”

Mr. President will not be satisfied with a man who is betraying another since he has experienced many different types of betrayals, and if you have experienced betrayal, you would feel it. He will lead you if you obey the Governor. Who else will he trust again if he trusted you to ascend to the throne? He is a special man who is worthy of imitation.

The Kogi State Governor had earlier praised the Hon. Minister for the change and creativity he has brought to bear in achieving the President’s goal for Renewed Hope road infrastructure, as well as the extraordinary zeal with which he carries out the President’s directions about the road revolution.

“You really got off to a great start the day you returned to work.” Since then, you have been examining roads; you have not taken a break, and despite the lack of funding and a budget, work is being done all around the nation. The contractors are back on the job site. We are all proud of you as a leader, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), because you are working and are also so receptive to messages and calls.

In addition, the governor stated, “I am here to show appreciation to God Almighty and to my wonderful brother, His Excellency Distinguished Senator David Umahi, the former Minister of Works and Governor of Ebonyi State, for all the assistance he rendered to us financially, spiritually, physically, and in fact in every way.”I am presenting His Excellency with Hon.

Ahmed Ododo, my upcoming successor. You have been such a great member of the Governors Club ever since I joined. Despite the fact that we were not affiliated with the same political party when I became the governor of the APC, you demonstrated your wisdom as an elder statesman.Despite being a politician, you are a seasoned statesman. Because of the way you consistently bring together governors from other parties, I was able to foresee that you would join us. After all, your progressive thinking allowed you to successfully lead Ebonyi State. You managed to turn the State around with the limited resources available to you, and Ebonyi has a new appearance today. Given that you train leaders, it is not unexpected that you helped me identify a suitable successor for my position in Kogi.

“We are saying a very big thank you to you and may the good Lord protect you in the discharge of your responsibility as the Honourable Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor went on. “Today you are in the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a Minister of Works with his Renewed Hope agenda.”
