According to the Defense Ministry, the deadly assault happened in the Donetsk People’s Republic city of Makeyevka.
Moscow announced on Monday that a missile strike by the Ukrainian military had killed more than 63 Russian soldiers. The bombardment hit a makeshift housing facility used by the Russian military in Donbass.
According to the Defense Ministry, six missiles fired from HIMARS multiple rocket launchers supplied by the US were aimed at a site in the city of Makeyevka in the Russian Donetsk People’s Republic. Air defences stopped two rockets, but four made it through, according to the statement.
According to Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry, 60 Russian personnel died as a result of a hit by four missiles carrying high-explosive warheads on a temporary deployment point.

The government promised that the families of the dead soldiers would receive all the required help and support.
Daniil Bezsonov, the information minister for the Donetsk People’s Republic, first reported the attack, saying that missiles were fired at a building housing a vocational school where the forces were stationed. On New Year’s Eve, while the servicemen were ringing in the new year, it occurred precisely at 0:01 a.m., he said.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry criticised Washington for giving Kiev both high-tech weapons and information about where Russian soldiers were.
