The UK Prime Minister has officially received a petition concerning the Yoruba Nation’s agitation for self-determination, marking a significant development in the ongoing movement.

Sunday Igboho, a leading figure in the Yoruba Nation movement, has made an important move by filing a petition with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The petition reportedly calls on him to give attention to the secessionist efforts underway in Nigeria.

SaharaReporters has reported that a petition filed on behalf of Prof Adebanji Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba Nation movement, calls for immediate intervention from the UK government to establish a nation mainly inhabited by indigenous Yoruba people.

Joining Igboho were several distinguished figures such as Prophet Ologunoluwa, Fatai Ogunribido, Alhaja Adeyeye, and Paul Odebiyi. This initiative is part of the movement’s strategy to secure international backing for their cause.

It’s important to highlight that this development follows Yoruba historian Banji Akintoye’s allegations against the Nigerian government, claiming they tried to convince Igboho to cease his activism.

The movement for the Yoruba Nation has been gaining traction, as numerous groups and individuals push either for a restructured Nigeria or complete independence.

Igboho’s appeal to the UK Prime Minister represents a major step forward in the movement’s quest for international acknowledgment and backing.
