A British national expresses willingness to cooperate with authorities after being accused of involvement in a plot to overthrow President Tinubu. Get the latest details on this developing story.

Andrew Wynne, a Briton accused by the Nigeria Police Force of scheming to topple President Bola Tinubu’s democratically elected government, has addressed the charges leveled against him.

The Briton stated in an interview with Channels Television on Monday that he is prepared to talk to the Nigerian authorities and denied any wrongdoing, emphasizing that he isn’t evading capture.

I have no knowledge of being a fugitive nor intentionally evading the law. For 25 years, I have frequented Nigeria without incident. Furthermore, for seven years my bookshop has been located at NLC offices situated in Abuja’s central district – during which time security forces showed no interest in me whatsoever.

Wynne stated that he possesses a single nationality and his passport name is Andrew Wynne with an accompanying nickname. He expressed willingness to converse with the police, engage in talks via WhatsApp or Zoom, as well as meet officials from the Nigerian High Commission in London. In his estimation, this would be sufficient if authorities desire to initiate communication.

My husband has been wrongly accused.

Channels Television exclusively interviewed the Nigerian wife of a Briton who denied her husband’s false accusations.

According to the wife, her husband’s predicament is not related to the police accusation that he tried to overthrow the government.

She alleged that a Nigerian individual who allegedly owed her husband was trying to find ways to expel Wynne from the country in order to evade payment of his debt.

“My husband and I were friends for eight years before getting married last year. We’ve been together for a total of nine years. Unfortunately, my husband has been wrongly accused of being a terrorist when in fact he is not one at all. The accuser, Mr Olumide, owes him money and is refusing to pay.” She explained.

Despite the ongoing court case, he is resorting to any means possible to intimidate and force him out of the country. He is currently in the UK as his return date had passed, but if it weren’t for these circumstances, he would have returned around late September.

Sleeper cells can be rewritten as “Dormant units”.

Earlier on Monday in Abuja, the spokesperson for the Force, Muyiwa Adejobi alleged that the British citizen had established a network of dormant cells with intentions to create disorder and overthrow governance.

“The Nigeria Police Force has initiated a thorough investigation into the conduct of foreign nationals and subversive elements who are planning to sabotage the democratically elected administration in Nigeria by orchestrating illegal regime change while fomenting violence throughout the nation,” he said.

After conducting thorough intelligence gathering and teaming up with other security agencies, authorities have apprehended nine suspects. The individuals were heavily financed by foreign sources to create instability within the country.

There are early indications that they coordinated and financed destructive demonstrations, spread inaccurate information, and participated in other unlawful behaviors as a means of promoting disorderliness while attempting to validate their illicit scheme to dethrone the legitimately elected administration.

Andrew Wynne, a British national and foreign mercenary (also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey), has been identified in investigations for building a network of sleeper cells with the intention to overthrow the government and cause chaos. He rented space at Labour House in Abuja under an alias “Iva Valley Bookshop” while establishing STARS of Nations Schools as cover for his subversive actions.

Adejobi stated that Wynne, who is also recognized as Andrew Povich along with his regional organizer Obiyan had left the nation.

According to him, Andrew Wynne has absconded from the country since investigations commenced. Alongside Lucky Ehis Obiyan- one of his local coordinators, they have been announced as wanted persons and a worldwide search is ongoing with regards to this inquiry.

According to the Force PRO, Wynne provided financial and operational support with the intention of overthrowing a democratically-elected government in the country.
