In Eha Amufu villages, where skirmishes between farmers and herders resulted in several villager deaths, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has visited.
The purpose of the visit, according to Ugwuanyi, was to learn firsthand details about the problems that contributed to the current crises in the towns of Aguamaede and Mgbuji.
Brig. Gen. M.K. Ibrahim, garrison commander of the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army, Ahmed Ammani, commissioner of police, and Rev. Christian Onyeka-Onyia, Anglican bishop of the Nike Diocese, were all there with the governor.
They visited the Mgbuji community, several nearby woodlands, marketplaces, village squares, and other places in Eha Amufu during their tour.
To identify the root reasons for the region’s ongoing issues and provide solutions, he met with the locals.
Ugwuanyi expressed sympathy for the populace and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring both their security and well-being as well as a long-term resolution to the problem.
Separately, community members thanked the governor for his unusual nighttime visit and his commitment to resolving the farmers-herders disputes in Eha Amufu.
They emphasized that Ugwuanyi was the first governor to travel to Eha Amufu in response to the ongoing crisis and commended him for, among other interventions, releasing N10 million for the victims’ urgent needs.
According to PlatinumPost, Ugwuanyi released N10 million on November 23 for the urgent needs of displaced victims of the riots and medical expenses for those who were hospitalized.
